What is "leader" mode?
Leader mode is when one user has full control of the flow of videos for the current room. When this mode is active actions like adding new videos, pausing, and playing can only be performed by the current leader. Additionally, certain graceful features such as waiting for everyone to be ready to start the video are disabled in favor of everyone mirroring the actions of the room leader. This mode is useful for large teamflix rooms which would normally be unusable if all users had control over the currently playing video.
When would leader mode be useful?
Some examples of where the leader mode would be useful include:
- DJing music videos
- Lectures with video content
- Rooms with more than ten people
- Situations where it's more important to follow one person than to keep everyone perfectly in sync.
How do I make myself a leader?
If a room currently has no leader any user can become the leader by sending a chat command of /leader
. One a room has a leader nobody else can become the room leader until the current room leader has stepped down by sending the chat command /stoplead
.
